People in my Life...

People in my life are very positive and negative. But I'm not going to talk about the negative because it never helps. I have friends that support me in what I want and family that wants the best for me. Since I have been attending PLC I have had teachers and facality support me in furthering my education in order to make in life for me and my kids. People that I meet and I tell my life story to always show a positive reaction to me wanting to keep going and that's exactly what I want to do. I know it may take some time to do because I do have other responsiblities but I plan to make a life to better me so I can have a positive attitude about myself, my family and my choices.

My Attitude @ my Service Learning...

I would have to say that I have a positive attitude in my service learning because I am surrounded by children who want to learn and teachers who are willing to share their life with these growing children. I can't say that it is positive all the time because the children sometime disappoint me by their negative actions. Yet, I always try to brush that off and show that having a positive attitude is the best thing to have even though my life is not always that way. Being in this atmosphere is always pleasing because Mr.Mize is always content and happy no matter the situation. I hope when I find out what career I want that I choose to be that way in order to make my career a positive one.

My Attitude

I would have to say that my attitude is negative most of the time especially when bad situations creep up on me. Such as I just found out that Augusta State University has denied me because SAT scores, but I always have positive feedback from my friends and family that support me going to college. I also so have negative attitude because I get aggravated because I feel like my parenting might not be good enough, but yet again I have my family, friends and school faculty that supports and helps me when I do have questions about my child. I guess I can say that my attitude is negative but I have a lot of positive surrounding me.

I'm not sure anymore...

With this experience in being in a Elementary School I have figured out that I would not make. I think that I would literally fall apart. I can't say that is the children because children will be children, but I can say that I do not have the patience to deal with children this age, and if I was to go into this profession that I would have to deal with a older crowd. As being a teacher you have to have patience and have a high tolerance for children of this age group. While attending this school weekly I have noticed that children are very curious and don't care what they ask you. ( Ex: Today one of the students asked me "was I married". I said "No" and the student asked" Well if you are not married? How did you get a baby" and all I could was laugh because I could not answer the question.) I think that right now I am unsure what I want to be after this experience, but I do know that I do not want to be a Elementary Teacher at this moment in time... but maybe one day in the future I will change my train of thought.

Air in the Work Place

I found the Young Worker Safety and Health Network, and their mission is to make sure that each young person is being educated about a safe work environment. They want to make sure that each U.S worker is in safe environment while working to survive in our country. This program is focused on the youth of 18 years old and younger that have and are trying to get a job. They want our youth to know and be educated on their rights in the work environment. Not only do they want them to know their rights; they also want them to know the health and safety issues of their work environment. There are many people who are behind our young people to educate them about our work place now we as young people have to take the chance of learning and taking the time to listen in order to better ourselves in the workplace.

Hazords

Being a teacher in a school I would say that it can be dangerous just because of the students. Now in days children have larger thought about what people think or say. There have been many accidents of students bring guns to school because of their peers reactions towards them. I also think that it can be hazards because just because we are teachers doesn't mean that our feelings disappear. Many things that students say can cause us to react in a negative way and we not even mean it. There are also obvious hazards at school such as if you run in the halls there is a possibility that you could get injured, and if your shoes are untied you could trip up. Yet in a school there are always ways to avoid hazards by being safe and aware of other peoples feelings.

Week 7

I would have to say that being on time, calling if I'm not going to go in, and keeping up with my time record is all part of organization. Yes, I would have to say that I would love to put that on my resume that I can be responsible for my actions. Right now I have no unique skills that I can point out just because now in days I have been "irritated" and that's something that I don't want to put on my resume. I have realized that I do not have the patience to work with "Elementary" kids. I'm thinking about Middle/High school just because kids that age know right from wrong. I have also realized that dealing with other parents and their children can be quite difficult depending on the parent and their dedication to their child(ren). Personally to me it makes me more comfortable if both the parent and child were at a understanding point that way I just don't have to talk to the parent. I can talk to both parties in order to try to resolve the problem.

Week 6 Assignment: The way I want things to be daily

By getting myself and my child on time I am able to do what I have to do without forgetting anything and am able to be prepared for anything the day will bring. I can call in on days that I am not able to attend because of certain reasons and I will always have a plan laid out in front of me so that I can function well enough. Because I am overwhelmed with obligations I have to take it one step at it time with patience and a plan to succed.

Week 6

Today I came to Mr. Mize class. He was almost finish reading the book as I walked in. This book had something to do with time.... He asked the class " Did you learn anything about time?". The class really did not respond which surprised me because usually after a story the class would usually have alot to say. After the class did not respond it was time to go to lunch. Mrs. Siegmnud came to visit us during this time and she observed that there are not many male teachers here by looking at the staff poster in the lunch room.A story that Mr.Mize told me once and I never understood why so many people have a negative point about a male wanting to be an educator. I think that it's great to see that there are males that want to eduacate and show that this is just not womans' job... which it is not... many see that way. I see teaching as male and female job. As long as you show the childeren that you care about them and that they succed with thier education they will admire you and never forget you.

Journal 5

This week when I came I in surprise that we were having a Fire Drill. It took me back to my Elementary years. This morning I knew that it was a State Tornado Warning but, I did not know that we would have a fire drill. I'm assuming that whenever there is a tornada warning that it is required by the school to have a Fire drill just in case the emergency emerged. During this fire drill the childeren didn't seem as serious about this as I was when I was in school ( at least from what I can remember). Things have changed so much in the Elementry school. Back in my day there was no talking... and we were actually scared of what might happen. I guess now it's not such a big deal. I was just very surprised at the noise level and the smiles that I saw on the childeren faces. I guess I can that it was better to see them happy than crying about what might, or could happen.

Journal 4

This week was very interesting because the kids did not want me to leave. It's like they wanted me to be thier everyday during thier classes. But during the time that I was there the kids had "Spanish Class" and they did not seem happy about it. I could see why. I mean I would be happy learn spanish for free. I talked to Mr. Mize about it and he said that it was because some of the kids have a hard time understanding what is going on. I see that the woman tries hard to get the childerens attention with posters and bright colors but it just doesn't seem to work. I think that if the Spanish teacher would say English first word, and then the Spanish word the kids would be more into it. For example the show "Dora" always says the Hello then she says "Hola". I think it will run the " Brain Train" a whole better to get them to understand Spanish itself.

Journal 3

Today when I came I sat and read with Mr.Mize with two groups of childeren. It was very interesting because some of them had a hard time understanding the concept of reading. Some of the childeren just skipped words that they did not know, or understand. It makes me question what can we do to get them to understande that if you sound out the word and take your time that they will be more successful. Right now we are going over the "Calendar" during this time one student gets up and points while the rest of the class help count up to today. The childeren seem to take well to the calendar. Especially when comes to thier birthdays and special dates when they do not have to attend school. The class right now are having fun playing a counting games with the number "10". The class seems to enjoy thier time counting to "10".

Journal 2

Last week it was fun to see the childeren get excieted about the books they read to themselves. Some read funny stories and some read historical stories but it seemed as though each child enjoyed the book they had. When the Spanish teacher cam ein she went over the days of the week and months. Some of the childeren seemed like they did not enjoy learning about another culture. I wonder if it just takes time to use to a different language?

Task 2: Skills

1. Pre-view the last session of notes and be ready to take notes for the next session. 2. Make sure that all assignments are finished so you will understand the next session of note taking.
3. Be prepared with pen/pencil, paper, and materials for class.
4. Make sure to be focused on the lecture, and if you think you missed something review after class with a reliable peer.
5. Anything that you did not understand during class put a "?" next to the question and ask the teacher after school.

1. Always have motivation.
2. You can't be perfect everything but you can try your best.
3. Never have fear... Have confindence in yourself that you can do it.
4. Before/ if you do get confused ask questions... Don't stay confused.
5. Make a list of what is important from number 1 being your top priority to your last priority. Just make sure that you do complete the list because remember everything on the list is important.

Task 1: Study Skills

1. Get to class on time.
Sometimes I forget the time and don't get to class on time from taking care of other business or talking to a friends. I think that I need to work on that because I don't want anything to get in the way of my education. So because I think I need to work on getting to class on time. I think it will be great time to get a watch and put it on the same scedual as the clocks at school that way I can try to be more on time to class. I think that is a great solution to my classes on time.

2. Taking Notes.
I have a problem with writing word for word when writing notes. Meaning it takes me longer to get finish with taking notes with NovaNet or with a teacher. I think that it would better if I would just write key words in order to save time and yet still be descriptive so I can study for a test. I can't say that it will be easy but the sooner I practice it the sooner I will get use to it.

Journal 1

Right now I have enjoyed myself observing the teaching methods that Mr. Mize is using to teach his students. It amazes me the way the kids take me especially the girls when I come into the classroom. I get hugs and heys from the kids and jut brightens my day. I see that it really does count were you grow up that affects your learning ablity school. I see so many smiles when the kids are active in the classroom and even more frowns when they have to go home.

I would have to say that the negatives that I have seen are some of the behavior problems that some of the kids are having. It's something that they can work on... but I would not blame thier behavior on them. It always starts at home is what always say. The positives are that they are eaggared the learned even though there are more than others. I see that if you show them that it is fun to learn they put more effort into the work.

Task 3:Me in 10 years

Where do I want to be in ten years?

1.Finish High School and get ready to go to college.

2. Go to college and get an associates or masters in Criminal Justice and find a suitable job.

3. Once I find me a suitable job in a nice city. I want to buy me a nice car to get place to place and house for my family to live in.

4. Make sure that me and my family are taken care of very well with saving accounts and money in the bank.

5.Have fun activities to do in order not to have a boring life.

6. Stay Fit. Meaning I will go to the gym every once in a while.

7. Teach my childeren values of life I think that will help through life.

8. Be strong and positive for me and my childeren.

9. Make sure whatever iplan to do that it will be positive for me and my family.

10. Live Life to the fullest.

1. Be on time.
2. Be organized.
3. Turn in all assignment on time.
4.Pass the graduation test.
5 Study for end of course tests.
6. Fill out college applications.
7. Pick out of the colleges that accepted me.
8. Get my family ready for the college life.
9. Make sure that everything is in place for when I move my family to my college destinations.
10. Study… Study… Study so I can graduate from college.

Week 1- Task 2

8. Think before you talk- I think that is important that you think before you take actions because if you don't you might end up saying or doing something that can wreck you chances on a good oppertunity.

9. Be prepared- Always be ready for what is going to be thrown at you. The job that you have might have surprises thrown at you and you have to be ready.

Week 1- Task 1

I think the task that I would have most trouble with would be learning from my mistakes. I have a bad habit of continuing doing the samething even though I know that it has a negative affect on my life. Not saying that everything that I have done has come to be a bad outcome. But because I have not learned from my mistakes that is something that I can work hard on to achieve the obsticles of allowing my stupidity to stand in the way.
